Patrick, we are down to the final moments of our show.  What are some words of wisdom that you would provide for our viewers, first of all how to stay out of trouble and second of all what to do if they get into trouble?

Well there’s really a whole chapter in the book that talks about to avoid a drunk driving conviction.  Before it ever happens and before you get arrested.  The obvious thing is to not drink and drive.  If you do drink and drive then there are a variety of things that you can do to either make yourself less of a target or to significantly reduce the effectiveness of the police officer’s investigation at the roadside.

We’ve talked about some of those things.  Some of the things that we haven’t talked about is to not put yourself in the position based on the time or location where you are going to be in a high risk location.  The police know where the bars are.  They know where the bars are that tend to serve the most alcohol.   They know where they’re most likely to find somebody who is a drunk driver and they know what time that’s going to be.  They know what times the bars close.  Make sure to stay away from those areas and those time periods.

Patrick, we’ve run out of time.  It’s a fascinating topic and an important topic.  I want to thank you for being my guest on Practical Law and I want to thank you for watching Practical Law.
